HAS THE TIME COME FOR A NEW ORDER OF CATHOLIC KNIGHTS? A CATHOLIC TEACHING ON SELF DEFENSE

According to William Timothy Lester on his Facebook Post.
The massacre at St.Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Owo Nigeria-Ondo State-has absolutely completely devastated me-
I have tried-ever since I fell in love with Nigeria and the beautiful people- to tell everybody-that Christians are being murdered in Nigeria.
Few people care or want to listen.
Do we REALLY need to wait for The United Nations to declare a ‘genocide’ when we’ve already known this for some years now?
I am very grateful to my dear friend and brother, persecuted American Pentecostal Pastor The Rev.Tony Tony Spell- who- as soon as I met him- I told him about The Nigerian Christians being slaughtered- and He immediately went LIVE-to share with his supporters and we prayed earnestly for them.
I saw in his Pentecostal Church, praying Holy godly men who were ARMED-to protect their wives children and Pastor from potential attacks of evil men.
Should Catholics world wide, especially in Nigeria- follow their example?
I believe Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition both say a very loud YES!
It is equally devastating -as the attacks on those kneeling to pray on Pentecost Sunday, the idea among certain Catholics: that to ARM ourselves- ‘self defense’ is somehow promoting ‘violence’ and against The Faith, when nothing could be further from The Truth.
In fact, the exact OPPOSITE is The Truth: we must ARM ourselves precisely to PREVENT violence and to protect The Innocents.
The Holy Father Pope Francis-for all of his beautiful messages of non-violence and peace is constantly surrounded by heavily armed highly trained Swiss Guards-some of the most sophisticated Soldiers of all times.
He lives in a highly secured Papal Palace protected 24 hours a day 365 days of the year by heavily armed Knights.
Soldiers.
Security.
Whatever you wish to call them don’t let those colorful costumes deceive you:
They are armed Soldiers.
However PROTESTANTs spin The Crusades-
However many ‘atrocities ’ were committed doing The Crusades-
And however much some Catholics want to gloss over these ‘crimes’-that are in the historical record-
The INTENT of The Crusades was noble and just and holy: to free The Holy Land from Muslims who were terrorists (obviously not all Muslims are) and to protect The Pilgrims who traveled to worship at The Holy Sites in Palestine.
The idea that guns equal violence is stupidity; on the contrary, had The Faithful Catholic Men of St.Francis Parish and many others-been armed at Mass, none of these horrible massacres would have happened.
But Catholic men have been emasculated.
Somehow many have come to believe Catholics must be effeminate tree hugging pacifists:
It is NOT Holy to just ‘pray’ and allow your women and children to be slaughtered.
*IS it TIME to resurrect an Order of Knights to protect The Blessed Sacrament, our Bishops and Priests, women and children and the elderly?
Off course we believe in LIFE-from the moment of conception until natural death:
But The Catechism and 2,000 years of Magisterium also teach that Self Defense and the defense of others-in this case the worshippers at The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass on Pentecost Sunday- is not only our God given right but our grave solemn duty!
Consider these words:
The Catechism of The Catholic Church (2264).
“Love toward oneself remains a fundamental principle of morality. Therefore it is legitimate to insist on respect for one’s own right to life.”
Self Defense is not only a God-given right but a moral duty:
The Catechism makes this clear (2265):
“Legitimate defense can be not only a right but a grave duty for one who is responsible for the lives of others. The defense of the common good requires that an unjust aggressor be rendered unable to cause harm. For this reason, those who legitimately hold authority also have the right to use arms to repel aggressors against the civil community entrusted to their responsibility.”
St.Pope John Paul II’s encyclical letter, Evangelium Vitae, addressed the tension between respect for human life, obedience to the 5th commandment, and self defense.
It summarizes the issue perfectly.
“There are in fact situations in which values proposed by God’s Law seem to involve a genuine paradox. This happens for example in the case of legitimate defence, in which the right to protect one’s own life and the duty not to harm someone else’s life are difficult to reconcile in practice. Certainly, the intrinsic value of life and the duty to love oneself no less than others are the basis of a true right to self-defence. The demanding commandment of love of neighbour, set forth in the Old Testament and confirmed by Jesus, itself presupposes love of oneself as the basis of comparison: “You shall love your neighbour as yourself ” (Mk 12:31). Consequently, no one can renounce the right to self-defence out of lack of love for life or for self. This can only be done in virtue of a heroic love which deepens and transfigures the love of self into a radical self-offering, according to the spirit of the Gospel Beatitudes (cf. Mt 5:38-40). The sublime example of this self-offering is the Lord Jesus himself. Moreover, “legitimate defence can be not only a right but a grave duty for someone responsible for another’s life, the common good of the family or of the State”. [The quotation is from # 2265 in the first edition of the Catechism of the Catholic Church.] Unfortunately it happens that the need to render the aggressor incapable of causing harm sometimes involves taking his life. In this case, the fatal outcome is attributable to the aggressor whose action brought it about, even though he may not be morally responsible because of a lack of the use of reason.”
A people who wait hope pray and dream that their government will protect them are delusional.
Not even the very best governments in Democracy can always protect their citizens from the mentally unstable or ideologically hateful -terrorist -who wish to harm –
That’s why The Founding Fathers of The United States of America ratified The Second Amendment that enshrined The God-given Right of every US Citizen to bear arms.
When Nigerian men are tired of their ladies and children being slaughtered by terrorists and arm themselves to go to Mass-
The carnage will stop:
And until they do, it will continue and become worse.
Consider the words of the catechism and of St.Pope John Paul II prayerfully and arm yourselves.
The Lord be with thy spirit.
