Gov Ortom Offers Automatic Employment To Late AIG Awunah’s Children
Gov Samuel Ortom, Friday, offered automatic employment to two children of the late AIG Don Awunah to reciprocate the deceased’s contributions to the state.
Mr Nathaniel Ikyur, Ortom’s special assistant on media, disclosed this in a release made available to Adadareporters in Makurdi weekend.
Ortom, according to the release, made the offer during the burial of the late police officer held at his country home, Tse Awunah Chiba, Mbachohon, Gwer West Local Government Area.
“The governor said the employment of the children was a way his government will appreciate the late senior police officer for his contributions to the development of his community and the state, Ortom said.
He eulogized Awunah for his passion in supporting the less privileged, adding that he ‘would fondly be remembered for his professionalism while he served the state police command as its public relations officer’.
While appreciating the deceased for using his position to improve the security situation in Gwer West LGA, Governor Ortom called on the people to support security personnel posted to their communities to enable them to successfully wage war against herdsmen militia who have continued to invade the area.
He also warned youths in the state who are alleged to be conniving with the Fulani herdsmen to wreck havoc in their areas to desist from such criminal acts before they are apprehended and punished.
The inspector general of police, Usman Alkali Baba, represented by AIG Tunji Akingbola, described Don Awunah as ‘a true Nigerian hero who served the police force with distinction both in operations and administrive capacities’.
Earlier in a funeral sermon, Reverend Father Jude Ortese said the late AIG Awunah helped the needy and contributed to the development of his community.
Governor Ortom was accompanied to the burial by his deputy, Engineer Benson Abounu; state Assembly speaker and PDP governorship candidate, Engineer Titus Uba; chief judge of Benue State, Justice Aondoaver Kaka’an; president Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Cosmas Idye; the chief of staff, Dr Tivlumun Nyitse; member representing Makurdi/Guma, Hon Benjamin Mzondu, and other members of the state Executive and Security Council.Join our Conversation forums
