The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has drawn attention to the activities of content creators, film and short film makers, who are using EFCC branded jackets, signs, badges and other paraphernalia without permission.
The commission reminds the public that unauthorized use of the EFCC logo in films is illegal. While the Commission appreciates the willingness of some operators in the creative sector to produce films/sketches about economic and financial crimes, it is the responsibility of those operators to seek approval from the Commission, including by screening scenes depicting the work of the Commission. False or misleading messages will not be disclosed.
The Commission’s Public Relations Department is well placed to work with film professionals who wish to collaborate with the Commission in using films and stories to inform the public, particularly young people, about the risks of economic and financial crime. Anyone acting contrary to this advice will now be considered a copycat and dealt with accordingly.
